Now that that is said, you can also hear the entire new NEIL YOUNG CD
LIVING WITH WAR at neilyoung.com Just remember the brave men and women
serving right now, taking the fight right to the bad guys (and bad women), and
risking alot more than aging rock stars (who I love by the way), so we
can sit at the computer and blog away. Pray for Peace in our time!
(Check out the ST JUDE SHRINE link above...the saint of miraculous intercession.)

ALL THE ROADRUNNING by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris
What a concept...well it's not that new. Listening right now for the second time to the entire CD, reminds me again SO much of what Santana has been up to for the last 3 outings. Stick with me, Knopfler's guitar (at least in electric mode) is so distinct that you can't miss a note. Ms. Harris's voice so precious, even in maturity, that she is quite capable of being the "guest star" of the entire project, and indeed takes the driver's seat (and controls the plane), for a good bit of the ride.
It is a lovely, touching work, grabs you as you let it go on...this is NOT a rock record. It's countrified (and I don't mean country-rock-ified either). It's a must own for anyone who enjoys either performer's work.
One last note, on THE LATE SHOW w/ DAVID LETTERMAN last night (27 April 2006) the duo did the 3rd track, "This is Us." And I was not impressed...they just seemed a bit "off." They did not have either one's band; they played in front of the enourmously talented Letterman band, yet appeared a bit forced. This is the reason I bought the CD today; I knew it would be better on CD, with Knopfler in better control and Harris in slightly better voice. I was right! The cut (excuse the expression) ROCKS on CD.
Bottom Line 4/5 stars (if you are a fan of either one of the headliners).

DAVID GILMOUR & FRIENDS LIVE!!!
Crosby & Nash joined David Gilmour to sing "On An Island" on the TONIGHT SHOW on NBC in the USA the other night. It was great! The Audience applauded after every chorus of C,G & N's beautiful harmonies; everyone was in good voice, and Gilmour's guitar (as usual) soared! You can see the video of that, and another Gilmour performance of "Wish You Were Here," at the following link.

NEIL YOUNG DOES ANTI-BUSH SONG & CD
4waysite.com reports an entire CD of anti-war music is done by Neil Young, check out the "news and rumors" section. And there is news about an "Impeach the President" song at this link
http://www.editorandpublisher.com/eandp/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002344436
Note to Mr. Young: I love your music, and just realize a great number of people are carrying weapons and taking shots (and worse) so that you and I can live the way we do.
I pray for peace every night as I know you must. But don't ever think there will not be people out there determined to ruin your day (or life or nation)...for that we need a strong military and a president not afraid to send them to battle.
Here's a link from the Sunday paper (16 April 2006) in the U.K. on Neil's new album:

BEATLES NEWS: "NEW MUSIC" and FLUBBED NEW BOX SET DUE THIS WEEK IN USA
First, the UK Telegraph alleges (and has the first report I've seen) a new Beatles album of "completely new music" will be out to celebrate a Vegas show, a la MOMMA MIA, WE WILL ROCK YOU and so on. I could care about the show (even if I loved WE WILL ROCK YOU in London, twice)...but the full story is here:
telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/04/10/nbeat10.xml&sSheet=/news/2006/04/10/ixnewstop.html
Second, this week the stores in the USA will begin selling THE CAPITOL ALBUMS VOLUME 2, but before you plunk down your hard-earned money...WAIT!
There's been chat (see comments on this set at Amazon.com for example) about flubs in the mono mixes (which is the whole point of putting out the original USA albums in digital format in the first place). Read the "fix" at
msnbc.msn.com/id/12208774/
OR
billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1002313681
I for one am a huge Beatles fan (I actually saw them in concert), but will NOT deal with the "proof of purchase" to get the "historically accurate" mix exchanged for the discs that go on sale this week. UGH!!!!
BUYER BEWARE!

TOM JONES with CHICANE ... New Single Due 24 April 2006 in U.K. (at least)!
Quite the electronic dance piece, but nevertheless thrilling is the new Chicane tune with Tom Jones on (some of the) vocals, called "Stoned in Love."
You can hear 30 second pieces of the SIX mixes of the song at
http://chicanemusic.com/music/music.asp
There's also a piece of the video there. Happy listening!
