"Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most."

--Ozzy Osbourne, quoted in THE WEEK, July 16, 2004, page 19.

OZZY joins Bush Bashers

According to the DRUDGE REPORT at the following link (while it lasts)

http://www.drudgereport.com/flash5.htm

Ozzy Osborne has added himself to the myriad of limo-liberals who make a fortune selling themselves in the USA, but will not stand behind the President. I say, who cares about your politics, bub.

He allegedly portrays (and says) he is "behind the troops," but "against the war." Well, I just have to tell you the troops whose job it is to fight hard, take serious hits, and defeat the enemy and "the war," are one in the same. Or is your post-rehab state too foggy to consider that.

Moreover, it was the USA who kept England for the English, Ozzy; don't you ever forget it. And many many more Americans FOUND the Cost of Freedom, so you could (according to Drudge) put Hitler (the man who wanted to have your parents goose-step and speak German, and salute his "super" race), and George W. Bush in the same montage.

Ozzy needs to take a break from his zillionaire tour and lifestyle, and talk a walk around the cemetery at Normandy. Then, take all the time you need to decide if you support the troops, you support what they do. If you don't support what they do (and that is make war on the enemy), you don't support them, period.

We will get back to music soon, dear readers. But I had to take this neuron-deprived multi-millionaire to task on SOME of his lunacy. Ozzy, after the walk in Normandy, I will be happy to buy your music.

Sincerely,
Zeph

TORONTO ROCKS DVD

July 30, 2003 was a once in a lifetime event (to paraphrase the intro on the soundtrack). This disc is 2 hours or so of fine live music. The big draw of couse is the Rolling Stones. Now if you'd prefer a longer more complete set of Stones live, do get the DVD set from Best Buy (it's only availabe there). That is long, contains alot of shows, but shows you--how the Stones are still the most viable classic band around. Back to Toronto, next up is AC/DC who do a great but shot 2 song set ("Back in Black" and "Thunderstruck"). They look old, but sound fresh and young. Rush also does a beautiful but short set (see a trend here?), and the other standout is the GUESS WHO with "American Woman" and "No Time" with a smattering of Justin Timberlake, who is as out of place as a Playboy Magazine is in church.

It was a long show, but this tightly edited set (with the exception of way way too much Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi). The original show by the way was 12 hours, and included a great number of upcoming musicians. If you DO pick this one up, make sure to see the "extra" material, for a maddenly short but sweet sample of all of the opening acts. I do hope a 2nd DVD is released (say for Christmas; anyone listening?), showing more of the headliners, and even more of the warm-up action (actually it WAS sunny and HOT that day in Toronto). The package also says it was remarkably peaceful that day; Woodstock North, anyone?

Bottom Line: 4/5 stars, just 'cause it should have been longer and more varied.

HEART is back with JUPITER'S DARLING

Yes, friends the Wilson sisters are back, with yet another permutation of bass drums keys and guitars...and the verdict is GUILTY, sinfully guilty actually. This is one smokin' CD that will remind you how great a group Heart WAS, but really still is. It's a super headphone album too, very nicely mixed. The lead vocal is not always dead center, a nice touch. Harmonies are cool. Just think of your favorite 16 HEART tunes, and this album is like hearing them all for the first time.
BUY IT
Bottom Line: 5/5 Stars ladies, and welcome back!
