Fleetwood Mac
LIVE IN BOSTON
If you can (as I did at my local indie store) get this 2 DVD set with an additional single CD of 10 songs (most are on the DVD), for about 20 dollars (U.S.), BUY IT. The show is great to amazing. Realize Christine McVie (on keys) has retired, and the remainder of F-M are, well shall we say WELL over 40 years old. And yet, they ROCK and they dance (at least Buckingham and Nicks do...J McVie on Bass sort of stands around alot).
Now they don't perform alone (except in a few nice segments of the Buckingham-Nicks duo and as a quartet. The majority of the show is multi-singer/guitar/and even percussion backup. Indeed, Stevie swings her wicked tamborine ALOT. Bringing Mick Fleetwood out on the same stage from his huge drum-kit riser, on level stage with the others for a few songs as a quartet was engaging, if not necessary. Now be forewarned...there is one clinker in the show, and it's "Don't Stop." You probably remember this as Christine McVie's song, and you'd be right. They do it 2nd to last, with first Buckingham on the verse #1, and Nicks on #1 and then the entire cast and maybe crew sing everything in unison. It's bad...a great thought, maybe even a great moment, and wonderful gift to the crowd, but the vocals stink on this one. They should have begun and all sang in unison, inviting the crowd to do a sing-along, and it MIGHT have worked.
Bottom Line: 4/5 stars on the set.

DVD - Long Time Comin'
12 June 2004
The CSN DVD, "Long Time Comin'" promised to be out June 8, 2004 is still not available. It is listed as "out of stock" at amazon, and is no longer even listed on bn.com or bestbuy.com. I ordered it (along with the "Acoustic" and "Daylight Again" DVDs that ARE coming), and got an email saying "Long Time Comin'" will indeed be that.
So, my advice is to enjoy the two of the originally promised 3 DVDs that came out this week when you can. I have the tape versions of all three and they are great especially if you are a fan.
