Wilson Phillips CALIFORNIA
Avril Lavigne UNDER MY SKIN
Wilson Phillips (you know the kids of Mamas & Pappas/Beach Boys), do a beautiful but forced version of the Neil Young song "Old Man," on their new release (5/04) "California." The good news is the vocals are beautiful, especially the harmony singing that these babes have down pat (and naturally so). The bad news is the entire album is less than 40 minutes, of all "California" songs (you have to be 40 to remember them all), and that's just too short to spend more than 10 US Dollars for the disc.
Now, Avril Lavigne's new "Under My Skin" (which I also bought at my local indie music shop for $9.99) IS worth twice the price, and is a great rock album.
Thought you'd like to know!
